FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The International Association of Emergency Medical Service Chiefs is formed.

New Advocacy Group to be comprised of EMS System Leaders

April 18, 2008 -- The International Association of Emergency Medical Services Chiefs (IAEMSC) is pleased to announce its formation as a new Emergency Medical Service (EMS) leadership organization which embraces and supports EMS Leaders and their organizations.

The IAEMSC mission is to support, promote and advance the leadership of EMS response entities and to advocate for the EMS profession. IAEMSC membership is made up of leaders from both career and volunteer EMS organizations and proudly represents and embraces the diversity of EMS agencies throughout the world.

The IAEMSC was created to address a critical void created by the dissolution of the EMS Chief Officer's Division of the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT). Believing that the mission of the former EMS Chief Officer's Division was relevant and critical, the Division's leadership team and members have built this new organization. Dedicated to the mission of representing the EMS Chief Executive Officers responsible for direct delivery of EMS to their communities, the IAEMSC strives to effectively address the issues pertinent to the contemporary EMS Commander. IAEMSC supports the needs of patients, communities and providers by providing support to current EMS executives, mentoring future leaders, and advocating for all EMS systems.

Over the past year, a group of prominent EMS Chiefs developed a working group to share methods to support EMS leaders throughout the world culminating in the formation of the IAEMSC on February 9, 2008 in Raleigh, North Carolina. Organizing members included chief officers from communities across America and international participants from Canada, Ireland and the United Kingdom. For more information regarding the elected Officers and Directors visit our web site.

IAEMSC is proud to bring immediate, tangible professional development and educational benefits to its members. The IAEMSC will provide to its members and their organizations EMS operational consulting services to assist them with their unique challenges. IAEMSC will be awarding annual scholarships that benefit the development of the contemporary EMS manager. It is also IAEMSC's plan to create a formal credentialing and educational process for the advancement of future EMS executives. Membership in the organization will also provides access to a robust list serve system for the exchange of information including departmental policies, procedures, and management information which benefits all EMS leaders.

IAEMSC is a diverse, exciting professional organization committed to improving the provision of pre-hospital emergency medical care.
